Are you a lover of the great things in life – beauty, architecture, parties and fun? Almost everyone will answer in the affirmative. Thankfully, you can have all of the pleasures and still not have to travel out of the country to experience all the awesomeness the world has to offer.
Right now, the gorgeous state of Edo has us in our feelings and we can’t wait to experience it. Why? We thought you would never ask! Here are the four places we are itching to see in Benin, the capital of Edo. (PS: We are taking an actual backpack and traipsing through the city next week). We also think that you should try these places out as well:
- The Palace of The Oba of Benin
Lovers of history would definitely enjoy a visit to the Oba of Benin’s palace. It’s an architectural wonder which was first erected between 1255-1280 and later rebuilt between 1914-1932! You can smell thousands of years of tradition when you step in.
- Okomu National Park
The Okomu National Park is the place to be for lovers of nature because it plays home to a wide variety of animals like red river hogs, porcupines and even the rare white-throated monkeys. Who needs NatGeo Wild ?
- Somorika Hills
The town of Somorika, located in Akoko, Edo state, is the home of seven unique and mystical hills. It is rumoured to be known for its spiritual and physical healing powers! Who else is spooked?
- University of Benin
This prestigious institution has produced prominent people like former Lagos State Governor, Babatunde Raji Fashola and everybody’s T.V. sugar ‘zaddy’, Richard Mofe-Damijo.
But it’s not the school’s abilities to tutor ‘zaddies’ and future ministers that has us jumping. From Monday, October 28, 2019, till Friday, November 1, 2019, UNIBEN will host the MTN Pulse campus invasion. It’s the largest campus rave of the year!
For 5 days, the school will experience numerous fun activities like the noiseless party, a celebrity visit, and so much more.
On Wednesday, October 30th, 2019, UNIBEN students will also get to ‘famz’ and gist with award-winning photographer, Kelechi Amadi-Obi; life and business coach, Steve Harris; mental health awareness expert and graphologist, Oladipupo Macjacobs at the widely-popular pulse talk series.
MTN Pulse is the offering specially created for the young, creative Nigerian who stands out and is unapologetically true to who they are.
