62-year-old great-grandmother, Alice Marie Johnson today reunited with her family after being locked up for 21 years.
Alice was serving a life sentence since October 1996 after being convicted for a first-time non-violent drug offence for facilitating communications in a drug trafficking case.

However, through the intervention of American reality television personality and socialite Kim Kardashian who made an appeal to US president Donald Trump to grant her pardon, luck smiled on the convicted Ms Johnson after President Trump commuted her sentence and granted her a Presidential pardon.
A video as captured by CNN shows the flow of emotions as the now free Ms Johnson reunited with her family and friends who were waiting for her a short distance away from Alabama’s Aliceville Correctional Facility.
