Arsenal Football Club have reportedly rejected a £30m bid from Everton to buy Nigerian forward Alex Iwobi today.
Everton had been prioritizing a deal for Crystal Palace and Ivory Coast’s Wilfried Zaha but Palace have rejected every bid tabled by the Merseyside club. Crystal Palace’s rejection of Everton’s £70m plus James McCarthy and a season-long loan deal for Cenk Tosun deal has the club turn their attention to Iwobi.
Arsenal have however refused to accept the deal for the 23-year-old winger who is rated to have the potential to become one of the best in his position. Reports say Arsenal will not release Iwobi for anything short of a £40m bid from Everton. The North London outfit can also sense Everton’s desperation and would be willing to take advantage of it.
Everton seem to be having a difficult time in the transfer market as their loan offer for Manchester United defender, Chris Smalling has also been rejected.
According to Metro UK, Arsenal have been offered a sum of £25m upfront with a further £5m in add-ons for Iwobi. The player is reportedly not agitating for a move away from the Emirates but might be forced to accept the move especially as Arsenal has signed talented forward Nicolas Pepe from Lille.
Since the report of the offer from Everton, football fans on social media have been debating whether or not £30m is enough to bid for a player like Alex Iwobi. We would love to know your opinion on the situation in the comment section below.
