Yesterday, the list of housemates to be evicted was given after the housemates nominated other housemates they wanted to leave. Seyi was among the 5 housemates to be evicted and with the veto power, he could save himself. However, he refused to exchange himself with any other person and agreed to stay on the chopping block.
The veto power meant that Seyi could exchange himself with another housemate and be safe from the risk of possible eviction. It, therefore, came as a big surprise that he refused to put someone up in his stead and agreed to stay on the nomination for eviction list.
When asked why that was his choice, he said that he had only two people in his mind to choose and both of them (Frood and Tuoyo) were already up for eviction. He clearly could not come up with another name in the 20 second pressure time he had to mention another housemate to take his place. But paying attention to the punishment that comes with not using his veto power, then this seems like it was definitely a risk.
Seyi has been banned from the ‘Veto power game of chance’ games for the rest of his time on the show. This has made fans go on a full-on ‘Seyi is stupid’ campaign, but isn’t there a chance that this is was some type of strategy on Seyi’s part. We already know that Seyi is a smart guy, so what if he only did this to get housemates on his side. As it is, housemates currently see Seyi as a selfless person. Chances that he will be nominated at least for the next 2 weeks (if he doesn’t go home) is already slim.
Then there is the point that he may have on his own never won the veto power game of chance for the rest of the season but he would have put a target on his back. Let us remember that Frodd had the veto power last week and after replacing himself with Mercy, he found himself on the chopping block this week.
This is what Seyi stands to get for this move: Housemates love and respect that is very important. The notion that he is selfless can get him even more fans. So was this a dangerous move? Yes, it was. Can it work in his favour? Most definitely. Just let us know what you think about this play by Seyi in the comment section below.
