In times like this, we definitely need some good comedy movies to make us smile and maybe laugh until we’re rolling on the floor.
While you’re stuck in your home because of the lockdown or observing social distancing wherever you are, we’ve put together some of the best comedy movies that are presently showing on DStv channels.
In no particular order, here are some of the best comedy movies showing on DStv this week.
1. Grand Daddy Day Care
This movie is a spin on the Daddy Day Care movie. In this one, a writer who is working on a novel has to take care of his father-in-law when he moves in. He then realises he could start a daycare business for elderly people, and also sorts of interesting things happen.
You can watch this movie on Channel 105, this Saturday, April 4th at 3:05 pm.
2. Blended
Blended is a lovely rom-com starring Adam Sandler, Drew Barrymore, Shaquille O’Neale, and Terry Crews. Two single parents go on a blind date and decide that they hate each other. Coincidentally, they find out that they have both booked the same resort for their family holiday. Sparks fly, and they learn to navigate dating with their kids in tow.
Blended will be showing on Channel 105 on Wednesday, April 1st at 12:15 pm.
3. Hairbrained
Eli is a child prodigy who started reading at age one, speaking six languages at seven and graduated from high school at the age of 13. When he is rejected from studying at Harvard, he finds himself at Whitmore College where he makes an unlikely friend and discovers there’s a lot more to life than just studying.
It’s showing on Channel 105 this Friday, April 3rd, at 8:30 pm.
4. The 60-Yard Line
This movie is based on a true-life story about two superfans (Ben and Nick) of American football who buy a house in the parking lot of their favourite team’s stadium.
The house and all it represents eventually comes to stand between Ben and his fiancee. The two friends will have to choose between their love for football and their personal lives.
This movie will be showing on Channel 105 on Friday, April 3rd at 10 pm.
5. Tag
Tag is a 2018 movie about a group of friends who have played the game of tag in the month of May every year since they were nine years old.
They decide to play one last game before the running champion of the game gets married and opts out forever.
Fun fact – The movie is actually based on the true-life story of ten men. They still play tag.
Tag will be showing on Channel 105 this Wednesday, April 1st, at 8:00 pm.
6. Hot Fuzz
This is an action-comedy about a police officer, Nicholas Angel, who works in London. He’s quite good at his job, so his envious co-workers cause him to be redeployed to a small town in Gloucestershire. At first, he is frustrated with the slow life, but soon befriends his partner, Danny Butterman. The two of them go on to solve the mystery behind a series of deaths in the town.
This movie will be showing on Channel 105 on Sunday, April 5th, at 12:43 am.
7. Drunk Parents
Frank and Nancy Teagarten just sent their daughter off to college, only to discover that their finances are in a sorry state – in simpler terms, they’re broke. They don’t want their daughter or social circle to discover that they’re no longer wealthy and engage in a series of hilarious actions to cover up.

8. A Madea Family Funeral
It was supposed to be an anniversary celebration/family reunion party, but things never quite go according to plan when Madea is in the mix.
You know how Tyler Perry brings it! This is the 11th movie in the Madea series, where Tyler Perry plays Madea and a few other characters as well.
It will be showing on Channel 108, this Thursday, April 2nd, at 9:25 pm.
9. Bending the rules
Sometimes, the sweet combination of action and comedy is what you need, and that’s just what you get in this movie. A district attorney teams up with a crooked cop to uncover the mystery behind a mystery killer, hopefully before they kill each other.
Bending the Rules will be showing on Channel 110 this Saturday, April 4th at 8:15 pm.
10. Johnny English Strikes Again
Rowan Atkinson (AKA Mr. Bean) stars in this action-comedy. A hacker reveals the identity of MI7’s undercover agents, causing them to recall older agents. Johnny English is also called back and of course, rib-cracking disaster follows suit…

11. My Online Valentine
Cozette Newton decides to try out an online dating service, but just when she thinks she has found love, her ex-boyfriend decides that he will win back her heart just in time for Valentine’s Day.
