American rapper Cardi B has weighed into the current controversy surrounding actor Jussie Smollett who is being investigated after he reported he was a victim of a violent ’attack’ and racial abuse.
Cardi in an Instagram Live video with her fans said she is “really disappointed” in the “Empire” star and feels he “f–ked up Black History Month.”

The Empire star allegedly recruited two brothers Abimbola and Olabinjo Osundairo, and paid them $4,000 to stage a racist and homophobic assault — which they allegedly rehearsed.
Smollet who also appeared on “Good Morning America” said that he was “pissed off” that people would doubt his story.
But Cardi while commenting on the situation said she’s holding out some hope that the actor is telling the truth.
“Until he says out of his mouth that it was fake and this s–t was staged, I don’t want to completely blame him because, you know … police in Chicago are racist, so they might probably try to frame him and make him look like he’s a liar,” she said.
Smollett’s attorneys, Todd S. Pugh and Victor P. Henderson, said in a statement to Entertainment Weekly, “As a victim of a hate crime who has cooperated with the police investigation, Jussie Smollett is angered and devastated by recent reports that the perpetrators are individuals he is familiar with. He has now been further victimized by claims attributed to these alleged perpetrators that Jussie played a role in his own attack. Nothing is further from the truth and anyone claiming otherwise is lying.”
Smollett faces indictment if found guilty of filing a false report and his fate will now be decided by a grand jury.
