Entertainment industry executive, Chidi Okeke has come out to shed more light on issues surounding his alleged debt to Nigerian music artiste, Dammy Krane after the latter took to Instagram to accuse the Mcomm boss of owing him some money from the proceeds of his music.

The controversy was first hatched when the artiste claimed that he was cheated out of the full proceeds of his musical content that was uploaded for distribution and monetization by MCOMM.

He went ahead to voice his grievances by releasing a new song, ‘Pay Me My Money’ where he shaded his alleged debtors.

However, Okeke who confirmed through his lawyers that his company, Mcomm indeed had a business relationship with Dammy Krane said that the artiste was not owed any outstanding from any of their concluded transactions. He insisted that contrary to Dammy Krane’s claims, he was actually the one owing Mcomm.

The statement read in part that “MCOMM did have a contractual relationship with Dammy Krane whereby it uploaded his musical content on mobile telephone platforms for Caller Ring Back Tune (CRBT) for commercial download.

“At the time of entering into the contract with Dammy Krane, MCOMM gave him an advance payment in the sum of N350,000 (Three Hundred and Fifty Thousand Naira) as an act of good faith. However, to date of putting out this fact as they are, his entire catalogue has only earned N275,000 (Two Hundred and Seventy-Five Thousand Naira).”

As a rebuttal to the claims, Okeke’s lawyers threatened to sue the artiste if he continues to spread the falsehood. They also warned that they will not hesitate in taking legal action against any platforms who continue to publish the ‘fake news’.
