During the week, there was mild drama at the Murtala Muhammed International Airport (MMIA), Lagos when security agencies at the airport impounded 17 pieces of luggage belonging to Popstar, Davido after his aides frustrated the efforts of airport security to screen the singer’s luggage.
This comes few weeks after Tiwa Savage reportedly had a scuffle with airport operatives after she reported that her goods were stolen.
According to reports, while operatives sought to check Davido’s luggage tags, this didn’t go down well with one of Davido’s Aides who was on the journey with the singer who was returning from Dubai on Thursday where he had been on vacation. The said aide tried to resist the routine check by refusing to show the tags, rather, he began pouring abusive words on the operatives.
An airport official who witnessed the scuffle revealed that as Davido’s aides traded words with them, he allegedly punched a checkpoint staff in the face while another official of the Nigeria Customs Service (NCS) and Aviation Security (AVSEC) personnel were also attacked. This spurred airport officials to arrest the aide and put him in detention.
On his part, Davido however made frantic efforts to get his aide released but his moves proved abortive as operatives immediately transferred him to the Criminal Investigation Department (CID) at Panti, Lagos.
Spokesman of the Airport Command of the Nigeria Police Force, Mr. Joseph Alabi confirmed the incident while Davido’s Manager, Asa Asika could not be reached for a reaction to the situation as at press time.
