The game has now come full circle at the ongoing African Cup of Nations as the Super Eagles of Nigeria and Algeria clash in the AFCON semi-finals.

The match which will hold on Sunday, July 14 at Cairo International Stadium will be a defining moment for the Super Eagles as they take on one of their longest rivals.

Nigeria is out to make a glorious comeback in this tournament after failing to qualify for the tournament in 2015 and 2017. This will in fact be the first time that the team will come this far after winning the tournament in 2013.

Algeria in the other hand is equally not in the game to take chances as the match means a lot to them. They are so close to reaching the finals and eventually lifting the trophy, and as such they are not going to be an easy opponent. They haven’t won the tournament since 1990, and this is their only chance to change that.

Matches between the two African teams in the past have always been a battle of the titans and in this current dispensation, there is more at stake. Whoever loses now will forfeit their chance of winning the trophy, and the two teams will come into the match with this reality in mind.
