The last 24hrs saw the internet go abuzz over the just released video for a song titled ‘Dino’ by Afro-trap artiste Kach. The song is named after controversial Nigerian politician Dino Melaye who is the senator representing the Kogi West constituency where a lot of civil servants are said to be on an outcry over months of unpaid salaries.
Prior to the release of the track, Dino Melaye had come under the fire of the masses over several corruption related allegations and his constant show-off of luxury amidst these accusations makes things no easier.
While the song was released some two months ago, the music video has just been released and a lot of people appear to be more unexcited about the fact that the senator featured in the video.
The artiste Kach spoke to NET about the raving song and according to Kach, the record was a gift from the universe. ‘I was just vibing in the studio like every other day and the lyrics just came to me. There is no form of political agenda behind the song it’s just a feel-good song’, he said.
A lot has also been said about the level of luxury that was put on display in the video. Some have referred to the artiste as insensitive adding that his privilege as a child of the countries former petroleum minister has made him blind to the complainants of average Nigerians. In reaction to that, Kach iterated that it is just a feel-good song. ‘Many people make songs about wealthy individuals and other artistes also show-off flashy cars in their videos. It is just a lifestyle’.
He further revealed that he wasn’t friends with the senator before now; ‘I sent him several DM’s after I released the song but he didn’t reply but somehow, my manager got to meet one of his assistants and from there Mr. Dino got to hear the song’.
On his experience being on set with the senator, he disclosed that Mr. Melaye was very supportive. ‘I was really surprised, he was very involved and supportive. He even helped us drive the cars and made contributions during the shoot’, he revealed.
This might be his first music video appearance, but the senator has in the past been involved in a Nollywood project not to forget his hilarious victory song; Aje Kun Ya Ni Oje. Maybe the man does have a knack for entertainment.
