According to news from Kensington Palace, the Duchess of Cambridge Kate Middleton has given birth to a baby girl. The new princess was born at St. Mary’s Hospital in Paddington at about 8.34am this morning May 2, 2015 weighing 8lbs 3oz.
The plaque confirmed the time of the birth and has been signed by the doctors looking after the Duchess, and it reads: ‘Her Royal Highness The Duchess of Cambridge was safely delivered of a daughter at 8.34am today. Her Royal Highness and her child are both doing well.’
The first confirmation of the happy news was made via Kensington Palace’s official Twitter account, ‘Her Royal Highness The Duchess of Cambridge was safely delivered of a daughter at 8.34am. The baby weighs 8lbs 3oz. The Duke of Cambridge was present for the birth.’
‘The Queen, The Duke of Edinburgh, The Prince of Wales & The Duchess of Cornwall, Prince Harry & members of both families have been informed. Her Royal Highness and her child are both doing well.’
Prince William who drove the Duchess to the hospital earlier was present was present for the birth.
The newborn is 4th in line to the throne, while her elder brother and 3rd in line to the throne Prince George, was born on July 22, 2013.
