Earlier this week, I wrote an article about Why the coaches of The Voice Nigeria suck and as you can imagine, our comment section on Instagram was a battle field.
There were a plethora of passionate responses but here are my personal favourites.
The ones who agreed fully with the post.
Tony (@mr_toniii): ‘They all suck because dem too dey praise everybody even the ones wen sing like winch’
Grace (@graceedaniel): ‘Nigerians don’t take criticisms well, that’s the reason we don’t grow. I totally agree with the writer. I’ve been feeling really disgusted with the show recently. First season was way better’
Sharon (@ojosharon): ‘Seriously they suck, u can’t compare the voice with project fame in the voice coaches are the judges also while on project fame there are coaches and judges’
Toju (@toju_oluwatosin): ‘I just feel the judges don’t dish out constructive criticism … its always, u did well, babe u sang well… even where its obvious that they made mistakes.’
Iniabasi Kwesi Paul Okon said: ‘You have said all the things I noticed about the show as well. No wonder I’m not interested in the show. The closing part was very awkward with Stephanie on Sunday.’
Mary (@____mcheche): ‘They are all bad judges. Why compliment their mistakes? You can’t tell them their fault and how they can do better and know where to work on. They suck I must say!’
One person didn’t agree totally with the post.
Liz (@treasuregal324): ‘Yeah I agree pato sometimes go over board but to compare them with the ‘US judges’ is stupid. We are unique in our own way and pls ‘we laik am laik dat”
And of course, there were the ones who absolutely did not agree and even had choice words to share.
One of them was Patoranking’s Talent Manager (@onpointclothingng): ‘And who is behind dis Dumb write up … Hello the Voice America was premiered in 2011 … The Voice Nigeria started lastyear there is a huge difference in time and location, If for any reason You should Applaud the organizers and the Judges for a good show like dis in Nigeria… Ur Opinion doesn’t matter and doesn’t count @patorankingfire gives life to the show in his own way and the Organizers love it … u don chop?’
A performing act named Fantasticks (@amfantasticks) said: ‘Should they pick you next time as a judge 😒’
Another fan said: ‘Without @patorankingfire on the show,it would have been so boring. He’s really good. He brings all the humour.Abeg Nigerians wetin them go do to please una????? Go find food chop if you dey hungry, useless writer.Ayyyyyyyeeeeeeeeeeeee @patorankingfire You are the main reason I watch it.’
Nike (@nike_emr): ‘Who ever wrote this article needs some miracle and life reassessment the person needs some spiritual deliverance so far the voice nigeria has the best coaching team just like how project fame team was these two shows are the best music reality shows Africa has got am a critic and when I say I love something and something is good it’s definitely good !!’
Oluwadamilare (@drey_songz): ‘Shows that I watch and cry sometimes, and you say it’s bad…Nawa o…Nigerians don’t always appreciate their local stuff…A show that you will always wanna see the next one isn’t good enough? It’s your opinion sha so I won’t blame you too much… @officialwaje @timidakolo @patorankingfire all of you are doing awesomely well and me o I appreciate you all’
Olatunji Godspeace: ‘Nigerians we sha must talk. Nothing is wrong with the judges and I think they have the right to do whatever they want… We should not forget that the judges are also entertainers so there’s nothing wrong with path moving everywhere.’
Belarie Bibi: ‘Sha do ur own let’s watch.’
And these fans had their say on the show.
Fortune (@emerald_trayvon): ‘Don’t care..am not a fan of the show..’
Toye (@kingaltar): ‘The Voice Nigeria but holding in South Africa!’
What’s your comment about the article? Do you agree or not?
