Made Kuti, the eldest son of Afrobeat legend Femi Kuti, has graduated from London’s Trinity Laban Conservatoire Of Music and Dance where he earned a Bachelor’s Degree in Music.
Earlier this year, the 22-year-old officially became a member of his father’s Positive Force Band, continuing the family legacy that saw Femi play in Fela’s Afrika 70 and Egypt 80’s bands. Since then he has accompanied his father on several tours, playing side by side with him at the recently concluded Global Citizen Festival in South Africa.
Femi Kuti proudly shared the photo of Made’s graduation on his Instagram page, along with his former wife, Funke Kuti– whom he was married for over ten years before they divorced. The two remain very close, however.
In January 2014, Made (short for Omorinmade) left the shores of Nigeria to finish college in London before proceeding to Trinity Laban, the same school his iconic grandfather Fela attended in the 1960’s.
