This year’s edition of The Voice Nigeria came to a lacklustre/grand finale (depending on who you ask) on Sunday night and Idly emerged as the winner-much to the surprise of many fans.
Granted the fact that not a lot of people expected him to win, it makes sense that they don’t know a lot about him. Here are five facts you should know about Nigeria’s newest voice.
1. His Real Name Is Not Idyl
Idyl’s real name is Daniel Diongoli. The name actually has a nice ring to it, we wonder why he did away with it.
2. Bayelsa Represent!
Like his coach Timi Dakolo, he’s from the south-south state of Bayelsa. What we want to know is which street in Bayelsa he got his vocal lessons from because homeboy can really sing!
3. His Fans Call Him Another Name
For those of you who aren’t die hard Idyl fans, don’t be taken off guard when you see posts about ‘#GracePikin‘. That’s what Mr. Dingoli fans and Mr. Dingoli himself call him.
4. He’s A Little Over Two Decades Old
It’s really hard to believe that the powerhouse talent is just 22 years old. That just goes to show that age really is nothing but a number.
5. He Has Come A Long Way…
And hopefully, he’ll be around for a while.
