It’s one James taking over from another.
The Late Late Show host James Corden, who has become a television sensation courtesy of his Carpool Karaoke segment, will be hosting Sunday’s 59th Grammy Awards ceremony.
He takes over from rap great LL Cool J (James Todd Smith) who has hosted the last five editions.
The British comedian has become popular in the United States, having had major celebs on Carpool Karaoke.
Adele, Stevie Wonder, Lady Gaga, Justin Bieber and even ex-First Lady Michelle Obama have all taken turns to sing in his Range Rover.
Hosting the Grammy Awards is a new realm for the 38-year-old and he says that he’s excited to play his part.
‘The Grammys are not really a place for comedy. And I’m only in the show for 17 minutes or so, across the four hours. My intention is to make it fun before it’s funny.’
The Grammy Awards ceremony starts at 8pm local time (2am Nigerian time) on Sunday February 12.
