Hugh Hefner, founder and publisher of Playboy Magazine has died at the age of 91.
He founded the magazine in 1953 and the first edition featured a nude photo of Marilyn Monroe. He would go on to become a cultural icon as his Playboy empire grew to become the number 1 adult entertainment company in the world.
Playboy Magazine redefined sexual freedom in the 50’s and 60’s while merging the nude photos published in it with remarkable writing.
Hugh Hefner was iconic for living the ultimate Playboy life, with his several girlfriends that lived with him in his Playboy Mansion.
He started his magazine after being denied a $5 raise as a copywriter at Esquire Magazine. Playboy will go on to be a $200 million empire before Hef died.
