Prince Harry didn’t have to look too far away to book the DJ who played at his very much-hyped royal wedding.
British actor Idris Elba told has revealed how Duke of Sussex Prince Harry asked him to DJ at his May 19th nuptials to Meghan Markle.
“So Harry and I, we’ve hung out a couple of times, through his dad,” Elba explained at Ellen DeGeneres on Wednesday. “His dad’s charity, the Prince’s Trust, helped me out as a young actor. So I do a lot work with them, Harry and William… And Harry came to a couple of parties that I deejayed.”
Elba, 46, said Harry just calmly asked if he was booked.
“And he was like, ‘Hey man, what are you doing on the date?’” Elba, whose stage name is DJ Big Driis, recalled. “And I was like, ‘Oh, nothing.’ He goes, ‘Hmm, would you DJ at my wedding?’”
The actor who said he felt taken aback by the request wondered if the Prince was joking.
Elba went on to deejay at the star-studded reception ceremony held at St George’s Chapel at Windsor Castle.
The People’s “Sexiest Man Alive” recipient DJ career has taken off in recent years and is set to perform at this year’s Coachella festival.
