Yesterday, a video of actor Ime Bishop Umeh (fondly called Okon Lagos) surfaced where he said that the policemen who allegedly raped prostitutes in Abuja didn’t actually ‘rape’ them, but committed theft.
The actor’s position was widely criticized.
Okon, in a reaction to the backlash, posted another video early this morning to defend his statement from the previous video. He maintains that since since prostitutes parade themselves as wares, the crime the policemen committed by having sex with them without pay is just armed robbery.
He goes on to say that he, of course, condemns the general idea of both rape and prostitution, but he believes treating the issue as theft will get the policemen more jail time. He then ends the video by saying that he stands by his position and those criticizing him can buzz off.
