Inter Milan has linked Argentine star, Lionel Messi, as a target for the Italian club, in a quest to challenge rival, Cristiano Ronaldo in Serie A.
Following Ronaldo’s move to Juventus earlier this summer on a four-year deal, Inter Milan is said to be plotting an audacious swoop for Ronaldo’s fierce rival.
The CEO of Pirelli and longtime sponsor of Inter, Marco Tronchetti Provera spoke to Tuttosport claiming that Inter’s owners Suning could launch a bid for Messi.
“I hope that Suning, once Financial Fair Play will allow it, can make a huge signing,” said Tronchetti Provera.”Messi? How can you say no to Messi?”
Inter returns the Champions League football again next season and so could be in a position to make a move for Messi.
Whether the 31-year-old wants to leave the Nou Camp remains to be seen, though earlier this summer he stated his desire to stay at Barcelona.
Messi has spent his whole career with Barcelona, breaking numerous records along the way and being the only player in history to score over forty club goals in nine consecutive seasons with five Ballon d’Or award, the same number as Ronaldo.
