She may be on “maternity leave” but Linda Ikeji hasn’t forgotten how to create striking news items. Earlier this morning on her eponymous blog, she announced that she has unveiled the identity of the owner of Instablog9ja, the Instagram new outlet that has become quite the rage in recent years.
Writing both on the LIB website and social media handle, she reveals that John Abayomi, an online editor with Punch Newspapers, is the brain behind the platform that 1.7 million people follow for their daily dose of gossip.
“The owner of instablog9ja is John Abayomi, a former online editor of Vanguard news and current online editor of Punch. He is also a Social media strategist, creative content developer, documentary producer and SEO expert”, LIB writes; adding also that “John is a 2002 graduate of University of Agriculture and has a Master’s Degree in New Media & Society, Communication and Media Studies from the University of Leicester UK in 2014. He also holds an international Broadcast Presentation certificate and Broadcast Journalism from Radio Nigeria training school, Lagos.”
No other proof was given other than the man’s information, which is available on his social media pages or how he combines his role as a media professional with running the page. That has not stopped fans from commenting on the matter since it broke on LIB.
