Nigerian blogger turned media owner Linda Ikeji has kicked off operations of her television service Linda Ikeji TV today, after missing the earlier announced June 1st date.
In 2016 she announced that she was starting a television station and had been in the process of creating shows to be featured on it. Earlier this year she broke the internet when her media outfit released trailers of a reality show featuring Nollywood actress Tonto Dikeh which showed the latter’s cosmetic surgery.
LITV joins the likes of Jason Njoku‘s iROKOtv and Funke Akindele’s SceneOne TV which stream on mobile phone enabled apps. Unlike those two, however, Linda Ikeji TV is the first service to bypass broadcast channels, satellite TV and telecommunication platforms to reach her audience directly.
‘After about a year, we are finally ready for you to see some of what we have in store for you. I’m so nervous I swear! Lol. But please go to lindaikeji.tv to see some of our content .To be honest, there are still so much content to upload for your viewing pleasure but I figured if we continue to wait to upload everything we have, it will take a few more weeks and I’m too impatient for you guys to see what we’ve done so far’, she wrote in a post to announce the launch.
LITV with its array of programming such as Oyinbo Wives of Lagos, Magodo Mums and Their Single Friend, King Tonto, Ice Prince: Rise and Grind, Toyin Abraham: True & Bare, already has an audience to cater to. Two years ago Ikeji floated her eponymous social media platform that didn’t quite match expectations and was rested soon after.
But she’s optimistic about her television platform. ‘But bear in mind, that what you see now on the site is just 1% of all that’s coming. Foreign, African, Kannywood series and movies are still coming. I just needed us to launch now and continue to upload great content for you guys to enjoy’.
