BACKSTORY: Y’all remember Seyi Shay’s infamous 2016 blunder during a television interview?
She was asked the meaning of the acronym – EP (which originally means Extended Play). To the shock of everyone, Seyi said it meant an “Electric Package”.

This is what inspired the title of her forthcoming “Electric Package” EP.
According to her, this was done in a bid to encourage self-acceptance. In her words; “I think we should all embrace our humanity with every flaw that comes with it. That’s part of what this EP represents”.

The “Electric Package” EP also reflects versatility and is sort of a show-off of her ability to play succesfully in the terrain of local influences.
We can tell you for sure that with this project, the singer made a conscious effort to appeal to local Nigerian/African market.

A proof of her intention to appeal majorly to the African market is the fact that Seyi recruited an array of pan-African music heavyweights; Vanessa Mdee from Tanzania, King Promise from Ghana, Nigeria’s Kiss Daniel, Flavour, Slim Case, etcetera.

VERY INTERESTING: Every single song on the 6-track EP featured one DJ.
Track 1: One Love – DJ Spinall
Track 2: Alele – DJ Consequence
Track 3: Surrender – DJ Neptune
Track 4: All I Ever Wanted – DJ Vision
Track 5: Love You Scatter – DJ Cuppy
Track 6: D Vibe – DJ Tira

On what inspired this move, Seyi Shay explained; “DJ are really slept-on. They’re really the one’s that help artistes to blow. So it made sense to team up with DJ’s – show them love and they’ll show you love”.

Her most personal song on the EP would be “Surrender” ft Kiss Daniel. It preaches the power of true love and surrendering totally to someone.
We asked Seyi Shay if she’s currently in love with anyone, and she said; “I’m happy”.
Shoot your shot fellas, we think she’s single 🤗

The fourth track “All I Ever Wanted” samples an excerpt from Onyeka Onwenu’s calssic hit “You And I”.
The EP offers a piece for every feast. There’s something for love birds, happy energy and Slim Case assisted with a track for the shepeteri people 😅. It’s titled “D Vibe”.
