Nigerian singer Madrina formerly called Cynthia Morgan recently made a return from what is now considered a one-year break. In a new interview with Victor Okpala on NET TV, the singer revealed the reason behind her new name, and also explained what spurred her to part ways with North Side Inc (a music label by Jude Okoye – brother and manager of the defunct PSquare group).
Madrina also shared details on her long awaited debut album, and confirmed she’d be dropping a new single soon.
On A New Single
In truth, the singer is back as she disclosed that she’s set to drop a new single which would go by the title “Lion”. This would be her second song under the new moniker – Madrina.
Lion is a follow-up to Billion Dollar Woman which was released in May.
On Her Debut Album
Although credited with an array of smash hits, Madrina has not-a-single project to her name. The singer had hinted on releasing her debut album some two years ago, but failed to deliver on this promise. Addressing the situation, she explained that she wasn’t treated well by her erstwhile label and this crippled her drive to release an album. “I wasn’t encouraged or inspired to drop an album under the label so I couldn’t”.
She further confirmed that the album which would go by a self-title “Madrina” would be dropping in the latter part of the year.
