Nigeria has successfully booked its place in the knockout stage of the ongoing African Cup Of Nations (AFCON) in Egypt after defeating the Swallows of Guinea on Wednesday, June 26.
The match which ended with one goal against Guinea through a header from Kenneth Omeruo on the 73rd minute catapulted the Super eagles to the next round of the game.
Although they still have one game left to play against Madagascar in the group stage, but win or lose, this would not affect their chances of progressing to the knockout stage.
Other teams that have qualified for the knockout round presently include Egypt who’s leading their group like Nigeria with six points, followed by Uganda who now have four points in the same group with Egypt.
A lot of Nigerian fans are expecting the team to go as far as bringing the trophy home, but with so much hurdles left to overcome, it’s still too early to decide how the tournament is going to pan out.
But if Nigeria continues with the current winning streak, albeit with lone goals, then they will have the chance of going all the way.
The team will be facing the Barea of Madagascar by 5pm on Sunday, June 30 2019 for their final group B match.
