Many Nigerians have unanimously condemned the actions of Senator Elisha Abbo and called for his resignation and prosecution after he was caught in a viral video assaulting a nursing mother in a sex toy shop in Wuse 2, Abuja.
The 41-year-old senator representing Adamawa North was shown in the video hitting the woman severally while his aides and some bystanders were making efforts to calm him down.
Once the public got a wind of the video, there was an outcry from many people regarding how a lawmaker could be so bold in breaking the law. They went ahead to demand justice against him.
Justice will not only mean suspending #SenatorElishaAbbo or whatever his name is, but prosecuting him accordingly as it is contained in the laws of the state which he was elected and swore to uphold.

The sad thing is that, she was beaten by someone that’s suppose to pass a law against such act, watched by a policeman that’s supposed to protect her against such unspeakable act. Shame on Senator Elisha Abbo #ElishaAbboMustPay #SenatorElishaAbbo pic.twitter.com/1HpiogkXtS

I’ve been saying that we need to pay attention to who we let into our National Assembly. Now we have CCTV footage of a SITTING SENATOR physically assaulting a woman in an adult toy store in Abuja, IN THE PRESENCE OF A POLICE OFFICER. Her only “crime” was saying “Oga take it easy” when he got aggressive with her female store owner friend. For that, he slapped her multiple times, and then made his policemen arrest her. This is an absolute disgrace. Pls repost and share until our Police force agree to #ArrestSenatorElishaAbbo – he must face the full wrath of the law. This is what happens when we don’t pay attention to the people we let into our leadership roles. This is what happens when we have a culture that subconsciously treats our women as second class citizens. We have a lot to unlearn as a country.. about how we select/allow leaders AND about the way we treat our women. We must do better. We must be better. #SenatorStepDown #ShameonElishaAbbo @nigerianpoliceforce @profosinbajo @aishambuhari @muhammadubuhari Shoutout to @premiumtimes for uncovering this story.
Heres’s the full CCTV footage of the assault which was obtained by Premium Times.
