The actor has been unapologetic on his stance that policemen who forcefully had sex with alleged prostitutes in Abuja only committed armed robbery.
Okon’s opinionated videos about what the policemen in Abuja did to the alleged prostitutes they arrested has led him to receive major backlash from the public. Many people who found the actor’s statement appalling have gone on his Instagram to call him out on his insensitivity. And trust Twitter folks to also not let the gist slip past them.
As it is with opinion, some other persons have actually expressed that they agree with Okon’s line of reasoning.
To get a glimpse of what has been coming back to Okon, here are some reactions from the Twitter community:
Ashamed at Okon Lagos trivializing police brutality and rape.
I hope when Nigeria does what it does to dehumanize her people, and it gets to his family, and loved ones, he will try to crack that joke again.
"The police did not kill my child. They stole his undignified life."

Okon did a 2nd video where he doubled down on his initial tattle & ended it by asking those of us who find his opinion distasteful to go fvck ourselves. This is Nigeria where there are no consequences 4 actions. Like Ganduje dared the courts , Okon knows that “nothing go happen”.

Dear Mr Okon. Rape is the worst form of violation anybody can experience in their lives. If it was meant as a joke, you need to know that jokes about rape are NEVER funny. If it wasn’t meant as a joke, then I think you need serious professional help as soon as possible. https://t.co/MOAWvGM2y7

Just to be clear:
1. These women were never arrested or charged as prostitutes as this is not an offence known to our laws.
2. The FCT operates ACJA 2015 which stipulates that even suspects have a right to dignity.
3. SEX FOR BAIL IS RAPE
4. Okon is clearly a low budget idiot https://t.co/Qo7I79hLzu

Some of the people who agree with him have had this to say:
This is Okon and his family, those of you making noise because he said the obvious should encourage those plying their prostitution services to get a life instead of making news off police stealing. pic.twitter.com/ZhBWHsljAx

But how can you rape a prostitute?
Okon is right😂 pic.twitter.com/X4y8GAUedm

When you act dumb in every movies, it eventually starts affecting you in reality. Okon needs urgent help and his movie roles should be changed before it becomes permanent dumbness.

Seriously, how can you rape a prostitute? It's either you pay for sex or you steal it. Okon is right pic.twitter.com/VXnV4CaARd

Listen carefully to what okon say before jumping into conclusions.. If you sell something and it's forcefully collected, it's theft.. That's the law pic.twitter.com/xt398kngqB

And of course, Okon is clapping back at some of the haters too… But not without attracting even more backlash:
Just look at the nonsense from this blockhead called Okon. Even when being called out, he can’t even act like he has shame . pic.twitter.com/Af3CL8Jbq5

Then, there are the ‘feminists’ who have made the controversy a ‘men’ thing…
It’S a jOkE. Because it’s about the rape of women and we all know you hate women and they’re just objects to you. I hate y’all.
— cherry bomb (@Tobiafolabi_) May 15, 2019
Tbh, I don't understand the shock you people are expressing at Okon's stupidity. Most of these Nigerian comedians are actually concentrated misogynists with the IQ of an ant and their jokes never fail to reflect that
