The Headies is an annual awards ceremony – arguably the most prestigious in the country – created to recognize outstanding achievements in the Nigerian music industry had over the weekend revealed nominees for its 2018 edition.
Although the over a decade old ceremony typically takes place in December, the organizer’s have inconspicuously scheduled the 2018 edition for a May 5th gathering.

Shoutout to the Headies that claim nominations are via submissions, interesting to note that I tried to submit a song and the website didn’t work…..

Bahd Baddo BaddestAnd yet Falz didn’t make Artiste of year nominations! Reasons why the Headies would remain a shitty award!

You can’t nominate Kidi, a Ghanaian, for Headies Rookie of the year.

Somehow, Mr Eazi’s “Accra To Lagos”, Ric Hassani’s “African Gentleman” and Ajebutter 22’s “What Happens In Lagos” didn’t make it to the Best R&B/Pop Album Category of the Headies.
Isn’t “Accra To Lagos” the actual Best Pop Project of the year before?

It’s so sad how irrelevant and insignificant Lil Kesh is now in the music industry.
I remember some losing their home training on social media cos he didn’t win Headies.

Simi was nominated 5 times for Headies. Same number with Wizkid and Olamide. Davido has 6 nominations. I am so happy and proud of Simi. Doing good music and winning.

Some musicians also had a thing or two to say
No Headies nomination for ‘What Happens In Lagos’ or ‘Ghana Bounce’ 👍🏾. That’s why it’s good to always face your front and work for your fans. #WHIL

One of my backup singers called me on the Phone to tell me about the Headies awards, we weren’t nominated. Sad day for the team but we’ve had worst days. I’m proud of us, we came from nothing, we did all this without any connect or money or label, just work. I’m very proud of us.
