Nigerian superstar 9ice is gradually using the anticipation for his new album as well as his singles on radio to cozy back into the public’s good grace after a long silence.
Tradition -the third album by 9ice will be released on December 7, and there are confirmed reports that 9ice is aiming to come back with full force; and in full effect.
In a conversation with the artiste’s manager Oladeinde Fajana, he disclosed that “All is ready for the release of the album, collaborations have been finalized, we have mixed and mastered the album and we’re already finalizing with the distributors”
A rough cut of the album made available to NET last week records contributions from his fellow label mates Snow and Street wise. Major appearances are made by France based Nigerian Soul Singer Asa on a track titled “Pete Pete” and German based Nigerian 2009 MOBO awards winner- Nneka on “Show some love”.
On “Pete Pete” Asa and 9ice deliver a well managed duet talking about the state of the country and condemning corrupt leaders. The song which was conveyed in pure Yoruba was produced by Cheffo, who also produced a couple of other songs on the album.
Nneka and 9ice on the other hand deliver an all-English song titled – “Show some Love”. Although 9ice unlike his usual self sings purely in English on this track, the theme of “Pete Pete” and “Show some love” are intertwined.
“So many things have been said and undone, politicians speak love for the masses, but still there is war, war in our minds, war in our hearts” Nneka spits on her verse in “Show some love”. Then as if to complement her, Asa on “Pete pete” says “Asegbe kan kosi o, Ase pamo lo wa, ise sile abo wa ba (Whatever you sow, you shall reap)
This is the first time Nneka and Asa, two female Nigerian music ambassadors whose strong points remain their vocal rendition and ability to strike chords on the guitar will be making an appearance on the same album.
The 15 tracker which will be released under Alapomeji records has production credits from Terry G, Cheffo and ID Cabasa.
