As victims come to term with their losses from Thursday night’s fire incident on the Otedola Bridge end of the Lagos-Ibadan Expressway, tankers have been seen on the road, to the consternation of many residents of Lagos.
Our colleagues at Newsroom Daily were on the scene earlier today and are reporting the outrage from residents in the area who are shocked that only a few hours removed from the incident, heavy-duty trucks and tankers are already plying the route. Majority of them echo the sentiments from a larger section of the populace that these tankers be barred from travelling during the day to curtain accidents such as yesterday’s.
At the time of filing this report, there’s still a heavy traffic jam on the bridge as officials of the Lagos State Emergency Management Agency as continue clearing off the debris from the dozens of vehicles set ablaze in the inferno. The number of casualties from the incident according to LASEMA’s General Manager Adesina Tiamiyu are eight adults and one child. A number of other people were said to be injured and receiving treatment at the hospital.
