The peaceful #DumsorMustStop protest against power outage in Ghana lasted for several hours on Saturday, May 16, 2015 with actress, Yvonne Nelson and her celebrity colleagues including Van Vicker, Efya, Prince David Osei, D-Black, DKB, Afia Schwarzenegger, Kweku Elliot, E.L, Wanlov, David Oscar and many others led thousands of Ghanaians out on the streets.
With the aim of demonstrating against the government, urging them to find lasting solutions to the current electricity crisis in Ghana popularly known as ‘Dumsor’ which means Turn off, turn on in the local parlance, the peaceful walk took place from the Old Legon Gate to Tetteh Quarshie Roundabout.
The demonstrators holding placards, lanterns, candles as police provided maximum security to make sure no one was hurt at the protest. Meanwhile, missing in attendance was hip hop act Sarkodie, who left the country for his music video shoot with American rapper, Ace Hood but still showed his support by recording a song ‘Dumsor’ for the protest before leaving.
