Lai Mohammed has revealed that President Muhammadu Buhari‘s swearing-in will hold behind closed doors on May 29. The Minister of Information and culture said that the swearing-in will be very low-key as the President will just swear his oath without any elaborate events.
According to the minister, this decision was made at the meeting of the Federal Executive Council (FEC) on Wednesday, May 8, 2019, as the events scheduled for the swearing-in will now be held alongside the Democracy day event on June 12, 2019.
He also added that the reason for the decision to hold a low key event is that the country can not afford to hold two elaborate events within two weeks. However, world leaders have been invited to the first celebration of Democracy day for June 12, 2019.
The events that have been scheduled for the Democracy day are to be announced at a world press conference slated for May 20th in Abuja.
