Real Madrid football club have been crowned as the champions of Europe after 2 spectacular goals by Gareth Bale and a goal by Karim Benzema were enough to see them defeat Liverpool FC who could only manage a goal from Sadio Mane.
The build up to the game was filled with so much intrigue especially with the presense of Liverpool’s Mo Salah and Madrid’s Christiano Ronaldo but that was shortlived following an shoulder injury suffered by the Egyptian in the first half of the game, causing him to get substituted in the 34th minute. Madrid also had injury woes just 2 minutes later after their spanish right back Dani Carvajal was also substituted in the 36th minute.
The opening goal of the game came in the sixth minute of the second half after Karim Benzema became the the beneficiary of an error by Reds goal keeper Loris Karius. The celebrations for Madrid was shortlived as Senegalese national, Sadio Mane stuck a foot out in the 6yard box to to in the score after a rebound off a corner gifted him an opportunity to put the ball behind Madrids goal Keeper Keylor Navas.
However, a moment of genius by substitute Gareth Bale who scored a sensational overhead kick off his first touch after coming in for Isco in the 63rd minute got the Spanish team back on victory path before forcing another error from the Liverpool goal keeper who could not deal with the Welish national’s powerful strike from outside the 18 yard box.
By this victory, Real Madrid become the first team to win 3 consecutive champions league trophies.
