The Nigerian Olympic football team lost 2-0 to Colombia in their third and final group match at the Rio Olympics.
Coach Samson Siasia made five changes to the team that defeated Japan and Sweden in the first two matches with qualification to the knockout stages already clinched.
It was however one of those changes that was at fault for both goals. Goalkeeper Daniel Akpeyi was late to rush out of his area when Teofilo Guitierrez was set free into the penalty box with a through ball in the fourth minute. The Colombian player calmly slotted past the hapless keeper.

And in the 63rd minute Akpeyi brought down a Colombian player in the box who was through on goal. The referee pointed to the spot and Dorlan Pabon fiercely stroked the ball into the net
The Nigerian team was uncharacteristically sloppy in possession all through the match and struggled to create any clear cut chances. But results from the other matches in the group endured that despite the defeat they remained top of the group.
