24 years after their historic debut at the 1994 FIFA World Cup in the United States, the Nigerian Super Eagles file out today to play in its 6 outing at the tournament.
Nigeria plays its opening game against Croatia Kaliningrad and pictures from the Super Eagles camp this today showed that the Gernot Rohr led team were in high spirits and they looked relaxed and fired up to carry the flag of Africa high.
Also, a delegation from the Federal government led by Sports Minister Solomon Dalung, accompanied by CBN governor Godwin Emefile and NFF president carried a message of goodwill and luck from the Nigerian people.
Just like the team represented the nation at the USA 1994 tournament, the current super Eagles team is full of youngsters who are making their first appearance in the competition. The Nigerian team is also the youngest team in the competition but have become popular because of its fancy Jersey which sold out in 3 minutes.
The Super Eagles starting eleven for the game include Francis Uzoho, Brian Idowu, William Troost-Ekong, Leon Balogun, Shehu Abdullahi, Oghenekaro Etebo, Wilfred Ndidi, John Obi Mikel, Victor Moses, Alex Iwobi and Odion Ighalo.
Football loving fans of Nigeria will be looking at the squad to display that same fancy on the pitch as the Eagles seek to surpass at least, their second-round best result and get to the quarterfinals of the tournament. The team tough filled with lots of players with superb individual skill has been berated quite often for their lack of organisation during play.
