Reigning FIFA world cup champions Germany did all they could but could not break the resilience of the Mexican side as they lost by a lone goal in their Group F opener.
The German machines had over 9 shots on target with over 67% of the possession in the game but didn’t find the back of the net after Mexico’s Hirving Lozano put the North Americans in the lead on the 35th minute.
The second half commenced with the Germans putting more pressure on the Mexicans but still couldn’t find a breakthrough as the game finished in favour of the El Tricolor.
Mexico now leads Group F with 3 points while Germany sits at the bottom of the table. Sweden and South Korea, the other teams in the group will play their opening match on Monday, June 18 at 1 pm local time.
