The Egyptian football national team arrived in Russia today as they get set to take part in the 2018 FIFA World Cup, a competition they last featured in 28 years ago.
The pharaohs arrived at the airport late Sunday afternoon time with the teams most influential player Mohammed Salah leading the pack as they descended from the aircraft.
Salah had been doubtful to feature in the tournament after sustaining a horrific shoulder injury from a Sergio Ramos tackle during the UEFA Champions League finals. But the Liverpool f0rward and EPL highest goal scorer has made a dramatic recovery and may be available for Egypt’s opener against Uruguay on Friday, June 15.
The EPL player of the season was decked in a blue suit and white sneakers, carry a backpack as he waved to fans who were at the airport.
Before leaving for Russia, the player attended Eygpt’s last training session in Cairo on Saturday night but did not take part in training, restricting himself to dribbling the ball at a corner on the pitch.
