The Super Eagles of Nigeria have been drawn to play arch-rivals Argentina again at the 2018 world cup in Russia.
They were joined by Croatia and Iceland at the draws ceremony which was held today in Moscow. Nigeria has played Argentina previous world cup appearances without a win and this will be the 5th time both teams will be meeting in football’s most prestigious competition.
Both teams first met at the 1994 completion in the USA where Nigeria lost 2 goals to 1 with goals scored by Claudio Caniggia and former Super Eagles coach Samson Siasia scoring Nigeria’s only goal.
Nigeria’s only win against Argentina in senior level came from the recent friendly match in Moscow on November 14, where Nigeria won 4 goals to 2 after coming from 2 goals down in a thrilling encounter.
