On Wednesday, January 22nd 2020, the video of a lady juggling a football for almost a minute was posted on Twitter. Twitter users were impressed with how this lady didn’t seem out of breath and how effortlessly she controlled the ball.
Margaret Bassey, an administrative staff at Teresh Eternal Excellence School, at Eti-Osa, Lekki, was recorded by a student of the school, effortlessly controlling a football, without losing the ball in spite of the several distractions around her, with children running into her way.
The Akwa Ibom indigene stated that she used to play football when she was younger, but due to her busy schedule now, she no longer has time. When Margaret was asked how she started playing football, she replies ‘my football talent is inborn’. She says she never ‘learned’ how to play, but had always been able to expertly handle the ball.
Asked about her education, Margaret says ‘I first went to aviation school, then I did a part-time in Unilag, studied Accounting’
Margaret explains that the ball juggling moment that morning was quite spontaneous. ‘I just saw the children playing that morning, and I decided to join them’.
When asked if anybody else in her family shares this skill, she replies, ‘my 2 brothers used to back then, and my sister’ Perhaps, Margaret descends from a line of footballers.
Margaret grew up in Lagos, Iganmu Orile with her family. ‘I hope to have my own school and a studio (makeup and photography). I did little cinematography years back and I am still in love with it.’ she replies when asked about her future plans.
When asked if she thinks she can pull off the same feat again, Margaret’s confident reply was ‘Sure!’
