American rapper Tekashi 6ix9ine was facing nearly fifty years in jail. But now, he could have that sentence massively reduced as it’s been revealed that his collaboration with prosecutors could earn him a reduced jail term.
The 22-year-old rapper was arrested on a slew of charges in September and was arraigned in November for racketeering, weapons charges, drug trafficking, and conspiracy.
In a stunning reversal, however, the ofte rapper who once declared that he had nothing to fear and would never “snitch”, accepted a plea deal in exchange for the information he gave about his criminal ties.
Several American outlets are now reporting that the rapper (real name Daniel Hernandez) a number of the charges, including one for his involvement in the murder of a rival gang member, are being dropped as Tekashi had co-operated with the court. Still, he may have to go into witness protection- which means he will have to move to a new state and be given a new identity.
Tekashi’s propensity for violence made him one of the most notorious hip-hop figures in the last two years. Following his hit debut Gummo in 2017, he embraced the spotlight and made himself into a hate figure. Before his most recent arrest, he was tried having sex with a 13-year-old girl and circulating the video among his friends. He escaped a jail term by accepting a guilty charge and was instead handed a four year probation.
