Dear Democracy,
I thought we were in this together
I thought the idea was for you to help me find the liberty in this freedom
You were supposed to be the key to justice
The peace in conflict
The voice for majority
And hope for minority
You were supposed to show Equality In quality Leadership.
But today human right is still violated on a regular.
Our Civil rights is left to push a different agenda.
And it feels like trusting you might just be my weakest decision ever
Cause all I get back are lies, conspiracies and all kinds of propaganda.
I remember back when I was in prep school.
I use to Look forward to weekends waking up to watch cartoons.
We had a playground Where we played ball and ran around with kite too.
It was a beautiful lovely memorable childhood.
Now all you have on TV is bad news.
The playgrounds we used to have has gone boom.
Gray is now the sky that was once blue.
With bomb blast and killings as victims mourn and cry we watch our leaders dance to the sad tune.
Let’s take a trip down history.
1999 Gen abdusalam Abubakar aided the transition of government to democracy.
Putting an end to the rule of the military.
This birth a new era for politics.
Democracy gave power to the people to choose their leader by voting.
A leader they trust and believe in.
Democracy was supposed to enhance the dignity of citizens.
Today we find it easy to relate with the N’word than to be called a Nigerian.
The pride of Nationality is lost trying to trends and hashtags on social media.
The misconception is that we think Democracy is now the power given to us to choose someone to blame or crucify when our will is not satisfed
Democracy is you
Democracy is me
Democracy is Us
Standing together as a Nation
Responsibly Holding ourselves accountable for the growth of our Country Nigeria.
Happy Democracy Nigeria.
