John Legend made an appearance on the Late Late Show with James Corden where he and the host got into a ‘pitch-perfect’ style ‘riff-off’ with the A Capella group, Filharmonic providing the music to their face off.
James Corden was going on about how the Radio has been playing too many sappy songs this summer but he wanted more jams instead. He even said “I want to roll down the windows. I want to jam out, No one wants to hear some guy on the guitar crying about his girlfriend in the middle of the summer. It just feels wrong.”
John Legend who was apparently backstage decided that James’ statement was just not true and came out to argue with him about it. He said that “I feel attacked, It feels like kind of personal, you know, for me.” They then decided to settle their different opinions with a ballads versus bops face-off.James Corden started up the riff-off with the Jonas Brothers’ ‘Suckers’, and John Legend responded with All-4-One’s “I Swear”. They moved to the next set of songs with James singing Billie Eilish’s latest hit, “Bad Guy.” with some smooth dance moves to which the Grammy-award singer responded with his own song “All of Me”. James finally said that he accepts that he had lost the battle and maybe he was not just good enough. John then consoled him and they both sang Lewis Capaldi’s “Someone You Loved” to round up the riff-off happily.
They sort of remixed the last song to be both a ballad and a bop and it was amazing. Watch the video below and let us know what you think about the musical face-off in the comment section.
