The Nigerian entertainment scene was once buzzing with music groups.
Trybesmen, Plantashun Boiz, Remedies, Maintain, KUSH, and Styl Plus to name a few, were some of the prominent collectives but over time, the number of amazingly talented music groups has dwindled.
Music groups always evoke excitement about them, as the individuals involved bring different unique talents to the table, although the risk of a group member being relegated to the background exists.
On the music scene today, there is a clear decline in groups, with P-Square about the only relevant group. And even they have up split on many occasions.

While a lot of factors – differences in direction, finances, grudges, ego – could be playing a key role in the existence or sustenance of these groups, it is worthy to note that a collective of talented individuals has its advantages.
A lot of artistes have used groups as a springboard to greater success, while some have even found it hard to replicate the success they attained with former groups when they tread solo paths.
With a right mix of different talents, young acts can benefit from building a chemistry with others or even learn a huge deal.

As the Nigerian music industry continues to spread its tentacles to the international scene, it can only help to see new, diverse and talented groups grace our music scene once again.
