On November 15, 2018, Wizkid’s, personal bodyguard, Roy Emmanuel Obinna was attacked at club DNA in Lagos left him severely injured.
A hearing at Igbosere Magistrate Court has however revealed that the attack was due to a debt allegedly owed by the music star. This was made known during the arraignment of the Chairman of Poshhills Entertainment, Olufemi Olusanya, aka Femi Posh and a bouncer, David Afari, who allegedly stabbed Roy.
Roy was attacked at the premises of Club DNA where he went to settle part of the N15 million debt owed by Wizkid. It was also gathered that Wizkid owed the club the sum of N8million and another pool party bill of N7million.
Posh, 38, and Afari 29, are now facing a three-count charge of conspiracy, unlawful assault and grievous bodily harm.
During the arraignment, the police prosecutor, Inspector Joseph Jimoh, told the court that the offences committed are punishable under sections 411, 173 and 245 of the criminal laws of Lagos State (2015).
While they denied all allegations, their lawyer, D. Mustapher, urged the court to grant them bail on liberal terms, as steps are already being taken to settle the matter. Mustapher added that one of the steps being taken is the footing of the complainant’s medical bill.
Responding to this, Magistrate Y. O Aro-Lambo, who stood in for Magistrate O. O. Oshin, granted the defendants bail to the sum of N500,000 each. The case was then adjourned till January 17, for mention.
